Living the Dream

If there is one thing that my parents taught me is never to give up as it serves no purpose. For six years now, I have been writing as an independent author. For me and others, writing isn't considered as a hobby; it's a lifelong dream to write, to be an author and to make it a career. I have been working since I was a teen starting out as a baby sitter and then became a caregiver. I was still in high school when I started taking care of the elderly in a local nursing home. From the time I was a little girl, I was a nurse, taking care of my dolls. I went to school my junior and senior year to a vocational school and received a certificate for a nursing assistant. When I graduated from high school, I applied to Vocational School to start LPN school. I had no such luck to get in the first round. After 12 years of school, I was kept out because of math and reading comprehension. I ended up going to adult education at night to be able to pass the entrance exam. When I tested the second time, I was able to get in and spent a year of my life learning how to care for the community. It seemed to be a long time coming. I graduated and took my first job at a local hospital. After I worked for six years, I decided to return to school and worked full time while doing it. None of which was easy. Again I didn't get into school until the second round, and it took another year for me to receive my degree. Sometimes I wonder how I made it.

When I started writing back in high school, it didn't occur to me to write a book. When our youngest son was about to get married, I took my laptop on a family vacation and wrote my first book which took me a year. I had no idea how to publish or the business. Unfortunately what I have found are the things not to do than the things to do. I have met some excellent people, and I have met some not so good people who prey on others dreams.

I am working diligently on getting out the best books possible. For those of you that have read these books make sure you tell your friends, encourage them to pick them up. I am not much on public speaking but I can. I am open to the opportunity to tell you about my projects. You can get hold of me through my FaceBook page, and I will leave a link to my book page if you are interested and I will do my best to do that.

The point is, I am determined. I will never give up.
