Love is never love without pain
“My daddy said, that the first time you fall in love, it changes you forever and no matter how hard you try, that feeling just never goes away.”
― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
No truer words were ever written or heart felt than what is penned by Nicholas Sparks in The Notebook. One of my favorite movies. I love a good book and especially one that make an even better movie. Of course my husband is not into what I call a good sappy love story, he calls it chick lit. However you put it together it is a wonderful story that is true to life.
Recently I tried my own hand at writing. I have to say a lot of pain went into the writing of it. There has to be a love for it and I believe you have to be born into it. As much as I like writing a good story its a hard sale. If you do not know the in and outs of publishing it makes it increasingly difficult to get your story out there. For months I have been struggling with the fact that it doesn't have to be a good story or a bad one, it what it takes to get it in the public. If you can't get people to pick it up, it does little good to write one.
Writing my first novel has brought a dream to me and I intend to see it through. It isn't easy when you know nothing about the writing industry. All I can hope for is that the right person picks it up and reads it and takes it for what it is. I myself have deemed it my baby seeing that it took me almost a year to get it to paper and get it published.
Standing in the Eye of the Storm is about a young man and a woman that has survived horrific experiences of being abused by one man in particular. He has haunted their lives since the incident and has become a stalker in some respect to the young woman that he abused as a teen.
The hero of the story was abused as a child by the same man, being put into foster care with his sister after the untimely death of their parents. He being the older brother to his sister took the brunt of the abuse to protect his sister. He and his sister are pulled from the foster care system and adopted by a wealthy couple that raise them as their own children.
After being beaten and sexually and mentally abused he lived a life of drug and alcohol abuse all of which leads up to an evening in which he threatens to take his own life. The adoptive parents do everything they can to help the two children to gain their trust and to help them readjust to a normal life.
As the young man grows he meets a young woman in a rehab center in which he befriends. Helping her to recover becomes his mission after he is placed there for assistance after an attempt on his own life.
His life goes on after the meeting and he marries a young lady that leads him lovingly to God. She and her husband have a child but she dies as a result of refusal for cancer treatment. She refuses to terminate her pregnancy to take the treatments and therefore dies as a result leaving him to raise their daughter.
The story of the Isabella is different in ways compared to his but the struggle remains. The two meet and fall in love. After a life time of abusive behavior he has become a homicide detective on his way once again to protect his sister when he is met with an accident where is treated and cared for by her.
So far I have had this story compared to that of Nicholas Sparks writing of the Notebook and I am flattered to be put along beside such a gripping writer. If I can compare anywhere near to his style of writing and ability to tell a story I take it as a high honor.
The story continues in the sequel to the series "Stilling the Thunder" in which I hope to be having a release soon.
